Dr. Shelley Mackaman
Clinical Psychologist
Specializing in the needs of children, teenagers and families.
What to Expect
Our first session will include an assessment of the issues. By the end of that session, I will be able to offer some first impressions of what our work will include and suggest a broad treatment plan. You will want to evaluate this information and carefully consider how comfortable you and your child feel with me. Therapy involves a substantial commitment of time and energy, and your choice of a therapist is very important.
At the end of the first session, we will decide together whether to proceed with treatment, which may include individual therapy, play therapy, family therapy, parent education, and collateral consultations with other professionals. At times, a more comprehensive psychological evaluation is appropriate, which involves a deeper assessment of the issues you have with your child.
Most important, I want us all to be confident that we can achieve our goals and make our time spent together a valuable investment in your child’s future and the long term health of your family.
